Meet the Community Dogs

In an effort to reduce the homeless, neglected, injured, and abused canine population in the central FL area, METTA also strives to assist dogs whose owners have fallen on hard times so they can receive the medical attention, prevention, nutrition, comfort, and stability they deserve. Below are the community dogs METTA is currently assisting.

Mara and Shyine

Hi, my name is Mara. I'm 12 years young and this is my friend Shyine, he's only 5. Our mom has been hit by some pretty rough times. We have all been homeless since November 2017. Living on the streets hasn't been fun. It's been cold, it's been hot, but we always have each other. Some very nice people have offered to help us stay healthy. It had been a long time since we had seen a veterinarian, but we are no longer itchy or in any pain. Shyine and I are no longer at risk of having babies or catching a disease. We also don't have to worry anymore about when we will get our next meal. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we met some new friends who let us bunk at their place. They are very nice and treat us like their own. We still visit our mom often and take turns staying with her for a week or so at a time. Every night we pray that someday soon our mom will get back on her feet and we can all live together as a happy family again. Until then, we are very lucky to have a generous rescue and kind foster family who love us.

METTA has been providing these golden beauties with full medical, supplies, and necessities since June 2018. The situation they were put in is not their fault and they shouldn't have to suffer for their mom's misfortunes.

With your help, we can continue to make sure Mara and Shyine are well taken care of.
